HARDWOOD FLOORING- A GREAT CHOICE

Are you trying to decide on a suitable flooring for your home? If so, hardwood flooring is an excellent choice. They are a traditional floor that lasts for decades and carries elegance and class with them. Also, it’s an investment into the property value of your home.

Solid or engineered wood flooring?

There are two types of flooring when it comes to hardwood: solid and engineered. Solid flooring is the traditional flooring with planks all the same width. Engineered wood flooring has a slice of what you desire on top, with three-piece of wood in a cross-hatch position underneath. This adds stability to the floor. These three pieces of wood are fixed together with resin. Engineered wood flooring has a higher capacity to withstand moisture in an environment, so an engineered floor in a basement would do just fine. If you put solid hardwood in a basement, you will soon see the wood warp due to the high moisture in the area. Engineered wood can add the same value to the property as solid hardwood. It can be refinished one or two times before needing replacement.

During installation, the sanding, sealing, and staining usually occur at the job site for solid hardwood. However, it can be done in the factory now. You have less choice for the staining agents with the engineered wood because it is done at the factory. But there is less time for installation with engineered wood because the pieces quickly click and lock in place. You can still mix and match it in your home.
